Hooray! Sugar’s new Summit Express lift, a sophisticated Doppelmayr high speed, detachable, six passenger chair lift, is nearing completion and will be ready for the 2015-2016 ski season.
Work began this spring on this exciting Sugar Mountain Resort project, which will carry passengers from the base to summit in five minutes. Work has progressed at a fast clip, thanks to dry, seasonal weather.
New lift station buildings have been built. Station and tower footers have been poured. GW Lift towers have been constructed and placed into position. Lift lines have been cut and Summit Express lift parts continue to be assembled. This project will increase the resort’s capacity to handle ski and snowboard traffic. Coupled with the opening in 2014 of a new slope, Gunther’s Way, this modernization of facilities promises to attract new and repeat vacationers like never before in recent history.
