After booking your Sugar Mountain vacation rental, start planning what you’ll do on your mountain resort vacation. Winter fun on Sugar is not just for adults; kids can enjoy frolicking as well. For starters, kids 4 years and under get free lift tickets with an adult purchasing a lift ticket at Sugar Mountain Resort. What better way to get the little one in the swing of things at an early age! Starting at age 5 kids can enroll in the Sugar Bear Ski School program. For less than less than a hundred dollars, your budding ski star will enjoy 5 hours of fun, lift ticket, equipment, supervision and lunch. An economical afternoon program is also available.
Adventurous kids can learn to snowboard from age 7 to 14 at the Polar Bear Snowboard School. The schedule is similar to that for ski school. Of course, private lessons are always available. Check with Sugar Mountain Resort for complete information.
Tubing requires no instruction. Nothing could be easier than grabbing a specially made inner tube and holding on! From your Sugar Mountain vacation condo or home you can enjoy two distinctively different snow tubing venues just minutes away. Your Sugar Mountain Accommodations agent will help you with information and directions to the off mountain location; the resort offers six lanes of tubing on the golf course.
Ice skating is always fun at the beautiful 10,000 square foot refrigerated rink, also located at the golf course. The skate shop is located adjacent and the price is reasonable. Plan on staying over New Year’s. A New Year’s Eve celebration mountain style at Sugar Mountain Resort! The general public is invited, free of charge to an alpine torch light parade at 11:45 p.m. and the fireworks show at midnight.
After the snow, what then? How about gem mining? The child in us all loves to dig for treasure. We have two gem mines in Banner Elk. Sugar Creek Gem Mine is located across the street from our office at the entrance to Sugar Mountain Resort. Foggy Mountain Gem Mine is located less than ten minutes away on Highway 105.
Kid friendly “pick up” dining is easy on Sugar Mountain; pick up on your way back to your home or condo. Chinese and Italian selection restaurants are located just beyond the entrance to Sugar Mountain. Lowes Foods and Food Lion have baked chicken and deli sides.
At last but not least, there is day and night care available at the Sugar Mountain Drop-Off Care center to leave the adults free to enjoy day skiing or an evening on their own.
